Homemade Lasagna
Ooey-Gooey Lasagna
Hi friends! I would love to share my lasagna recipe with you. I got it from my mom, and she's been making it my whole life. I must admit hers is better, but there's always some little something that I miss, usually!
Today I started with an onion, which I chopped up kind of finely, and then I added some garlic to my ground beef. I cook them together until the ground beef is browned and the onions are slightly soft. Then I added a jar of spaghetti sauce, which, if you're feeling feisty, you can make your own. I think that's part of what makes my mom's really good! She makes her own sauce! Then I just let it heat up, and while that's going on, I bring the noodles to a boil (Salt that water good). Go ahead and let them cool a little bit, because they will burn your fingertips off! Oh, and before I started all of this, I actually began with the cheese. So, for the cheese, I had a container of ricotta, a container of cottage cheese, and some freshly shredded mozzarella. I combined all the ricotta, most of the mozzarella, and most of the cottage cheese. I put it in the fridge so it could harden up and really mix together. I'm now ready to start assembling my lasagna. I have layers, and I start with the sauce. I put sauce on the bottom, then noodles, then a layer of cheese. I kind of spread it out, then add more sauce on top, another layer of noodles, then top it with sauce, and finish it off with the more shredded mozzarella I set aside! You can make as many layers as you have ingredients. Mine is kind of smaller because it's just my husband and my dinner tonight, but you can layer it as high as you want to go! I put it in the oven at 350 for about 30 minutes. I think I would recommend setting it to 400 and baking for about 45 minutes. Just keep an eye on it so that you don't burn your cheese on top! You just want to make sure that all the cheeses are ooey-gooey, bubbling, and coming together. It’s an Italian lover’s dream! Jake and I had salad with it. I love garlic toast with it, too, but we were out. As I said, this is my mom's recipe, tweaked a little for ease, but I hope you enjoy making it and love eating it!
Let me know if you do and what you think.
